Ranu Welum Foundation, a grassroots organization located in Kalimantan, has made tremendous strides towards restoring and protecting the land and forests in the region through Youth Act, a green movement aims to mobilize youth for climate. Through its tireless efforts in tree planting, forest mapping, and fire fighting, the foundation has successfully rehabilitated a vast area of 2,271 hectares, which were once ravaged by harmful practices and forest fires.
Tree Planting
Understanding the significance of trees in maintaining ecological balance, the Youth Act Kalimantan has devoted its resources to extensive tree planting efforts. Every month, at least 3,000 trees stored in the Green House and distributed to youth who lead the actions.
By reforesting degraded areas, we aims to combat deforestation, promote biodiversity, and engage all people from different background to create a healthier ecosystem for the local community and wildlife.
Forest Mapping
Through advanced technology and the expertise of dedicated volunteers, the Youth Act Kalimantan has undertaken the critical task of forest mapping. Using some tools such as drone, GPS and phone, we are able to identify areas that require urgent attention and interventions.
This approach, combined with meticulous planning, ensures the effective allocation of resources and aids in safeguarding remaining forested areas from further encroachment and degradation.
Fire Fighting
One of the biggest threats faced by Kalimantan's forests is uncontrolled wildfires. Since 2015, The Ranu Welum Foundation has actively engaged in fire fighting activities, offering swift response and assistance during emergencies. Their team of trained volunteers, equipped with necessary resources, plays a pivotal role in minimizing the damage caused by fires, protecting the environment, and maintaining the delicate balance of Kalimantan's ecosystems.
If you are concerned as individuals, please and in solidarity with us. Please recognize the urgency of our cause and join hands to tackle the growing environmental challenges facing our planet. Whether it is through supporting local reforestation initiatives, advocating for stricter environmental policies, or donating to organizations like us, each and every one of us can make a difference.
