In a remarkable display of environmental stewardship, a group of youth in Kalimantan recently banded together to plant 550 trees in the peatland ecology center. The youth, whose ages ranged from 16 to 25, spent a whole day in the peatland area, meticulously planting the trees and tending to their growth. Their dedication and hard work did not go unnoticed, as it inspired student groups from Palangkaraya University to also do the same. They brought 200 trees to villages where they were doing social works, and planted them as a contribution to the conservation of the region.

The peatland ecology center of Youth Act Kalimantan has long been in need of maintenance and restoration. This area was burned during forest fires in 2015. Since then, the Youth Act has restored the area and utilized it as a learning center where youth can explore the forests and learn about peatland ecosystems. Besides tree planting, youth forest rangers also monitor the forests, conduct biodiversity surveys and clear trekking paths and rest areas. With the youth-led conservation effort, the center is now on its way to ensure the continued health of the ecosystem.
The project, aimed at restoring and preserving the delicate ecosystem, was made possible with the generous support of Flair and Behave, two France-based companies that donated 1,000 euros towards the initiative. Flair and Behave's generous donation was instrumental in making this project a reality, allowing the youth to make a tangible impact on the environment and inspire others to follow in their footsteps. It serves as a shining example of how collaboration between businesses and local communities can lead to meaningful and lasting change for the betterment of our planet.
